Students look at books at the book fair

The book fair has brought excitement to Bradie Shrum Elementary this week. BSE Librarian Jamie Malloy said the fair was in full force before she came to the school and has been going on for years.

“I saw how much the students loved it, and I wanted to continue it,” she said.

Lacey McCoskey, a teacher at BSE, said she loves the excitement.

“Even the kids that don’t have the money, when they walk in, they are so happy.”

Books are a big part of everyday life at BSE. The students like the variety of books they have access to during the book fair, some even think that there should be more books.

“I like all of the books here, I think there should be more books here,” said Mia Wade.

Malloy said the book fair has many benefits.

“The book fair is an opportunity for students to build home libraries,” she said.

It can also help teach students responsibility because they learn how to handle money, count money and how to total their purchases.

Malloy said parents can even donate to their child’s classroom with the teacher wish list through an eWallet account.

“Parents can add money to the accounts for teachers to shop and add books to a classroom library,” she said.

The book fair will end March 1st.
