In the spirit of giving this season, second grade students collected 492 items for the Washington County Food Bank. Way to go little Lions!
First graders kicked off the holiday season with a visit to Derby Dinner Playhouse to see "Jack Frost Saves Christmas" and enjoyed lunch on the river at King Fish.
The BSE Spell Bowl team competed in and hosted the regional Spell Bowl competition Monday night. The team placed second in their division and second overall. The group had three perfect scores. Those students scoring perfect were Althea Shields, Langston Sparkman and Isabel Azcuy. Other team members are Noah Redden, Arianna Tedrow, Alaina Tedrow, Jamie Burcham and Piper Stephens. Congratulations to Emily Johnson and Crystal Mikels for receiving a Robotics Competition Grant from the Indiana Department of Education’s (IDOE’s) Office of Teaching and Learning.
They were one of 168 recipients of the 2023-2024 K-12 Robotics Competition Grant. Awarded through funds appropriated by the Indiana General Assembly, this grant aligns with the mission of Indiana’s Priorities for STEM Education to provide Indiana students with engaging STEM learning experiences that prepare them for emerging careers and educational opportunities.
Celebrate Red Ribbon Week next week with dress up days!
Kindergarten students celebrated the 50th day of school by dressing in styles from the 50s, hula hooping, dancing and blowing bubbles! It was a fun day! Here are photos from Mrs. Bower's class!
The Kids Bible Klub (KBK) will start meeting after fall break. This is the 11th year for the club! The group will meet Thursday mornings from 7:30 to 8 a.m. in rooms 300, 301 and 302. The first meeting will be Oct. 19. Notes have been sent home with students, which includes a registration form.

Students in Mrs. Ingram's class were building Lego towers with Mrs. Mikels during Creation Station class today. The students had to see who could build the tallest tower with the legos they were provided.

Parents conveniently submit plan changes for their children using the free app. The school efficiently tracks absence, early dismissals and end-of-day plans. The system also helps speed up dismissal time and adds a layer of security for your children.

Mrs. Rowe's fifth-grade class has been studying argumentative text. During a discussion on the future of technology, Mr. Donald Stinnette shared the technology included in his new Tesla. The students enjoyed getting to check out the car while learning about its capabilities.
If you think music class doesn't involve movement, then you are wrong! Third grade students in Mrs. Gorman's classes were on their feet today after learning about crescendo, fortissimo, pianissimo and more! They were getting low for the quieter sounds and up and stretching their arms wide as the music got louder. Mrs. Gorman makes music fun at BSE!
